On the second day of the popular Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival 2015, Groningen (NL), my exhibition of sculptures was shut-down by the management after two individuals felt offended by this particular piece. The two man expressed their disapproval by causing a disturbance, and threatened to return the same night to set fire to the booth. A concerned festival employee who rushed to the scene was told to back off at the risk of losing his kneecaps. With no hesitation, the management responded by closing the show until further notice, and – after some media attention- for the remainder of the festival. In the discussion following the incident the Noorderzon management was severely critisised for supporting the vandals instead of their artists.
